DEMAIN ÇA IRA MIEUX !
By Jean-Michel NOIREY
Directed by Jean-Michel Noirey, Tomorrow Will Be Better will be shot in the Bay of Somme, with the participation of amateur actors from the Théâtre du Monde Entier workshops, founded by Jean-Michel and based in the former school of Ponthoile, provided by the town hall.
The film also brings together Bruno Debrandt, Philippe Caroy, and Mata Gabin.
After a long career as an actor, Jean-Michel Noirey approaches filmmaking as a space for collective experimentation, where actors actively contribute to the construction of the film through extensive rehearsals and exchanges, often conducted directly on set. This freedom of tone and creativity gives the film a unique vitality.
The story follows Jeanne, portrayed with great sensitivity by Anne Chanoine, an actress from the Théâtre du Monde Entier workshops, who authentically embodies a woman rebuilding her life. She is surrounded by amateur actors from diverse backgrounds, most of whom had already participated in Jean-Michel’s previous film, M. & Mme Toutlemonde.
A social worker and mother, Jeanne struggles to recover after the loss of her husband—far from the “Prince Charming” she had imagined. Her journey, full of obstacles, reflects the experiences of many single mothers today.
To support her family, she juggles two jobs, including one in a nursing home. The encounters and solidarity she discovers along the way contribute to her healing and her liberation from patriarchal constraints.
Blending humor and emotion, Tomorrow Will Be Better paints the portrait of a woman in search of freedom and inner peace.
The project benefits from strong local involvement, continuing the legacy of Jean-Michel Noirey’s previous feature, M. & Mme Toutlemonde, which enjoyed widespread regional success.
The film is supported by the Department of Somme and the towns of Noyelles-sur-Mer, Abbeville, Saint-Valery-sur-Somme, Quend-Plage, and Le Crotoy, as well as by the production company Papaye, led by Philippe Payet.
A teaser and a film mock-up are currently in production, in preparation for an expanded co-production and the search for a distributor for national release.
